Embracing the Unseen: Healing the Wound of Humiliation
- Where
January 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Lise Bourbeau, in her book Heal Your Wounds and Find Your True Self, identifies five core emotional wounds that individuals experience, often beginning in childhood, and the protective “masks” they develop to cope with these wounds. Here’s a breakdown of the five wounds and their corresponding masks:
1. Rejection – Withdrawal
2. Abandonment – Dependency
3. Humiliation – Masochism
4. Betrayal – Controlling
5. Injustice – Perfection
We all have them, some are stronger than others.
In this workshop we will delve into the third wound – humiliation and inner beliefs related to that.
We will connect to our wound through the painting, Self-portrait with Masks by James Ensor.
This is the third of the five workshops in exploring the major wounds.
We will meditate for deeper connection and make our mask. Please bring paper or cartoon for the mask, scissors, paint and thread to wear the mask. We will share our relations with our masks at the end of the session.
