Embracing the Unseen: Healing the Wound of Abandonment

January 7, 2025 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

January 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Lise Bourbeau, in her book Heal Your Wounds and Find Your True Self, identifies five core emotional wounds that individuals often experience, beginning in childhood, along with the protective “masks” they develop to cope with these wounds. These are:
•Rejection – Mask: Withdrawal
•Abandonment – Mask: Dependency
•Humiliation – Mask: Masochism
•Betrayal – Mask: Controlling
•Injustice – Mask: Perfection

We all carry these wounds to some degree, though some may be stronger than others.

In this workshop, we will delve into the second wound—Abandonment—and explore the inner beliefs and patterns associated with it. We will meditate on the painting of The Wanderer Above The Sea and Fog by Caspar David Friedrich.

This is the second of five workshops designed to help you explore and heal the major wounds.

We will use meditation to connect more deeply with ourselves and engage in self-expression through writing and drawing. Please bring your preferred tools for writing and drawing, and keep your camera on during the workshop to foster connection and engagement.
